What is TeleDermatology?

Teledermatology (or telehealth or telemedicine) allows our board-certified dermatologists to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients using technology such as a phone, rather than an in-person clinical visit.

Is TeleDermatology covered by my insurance?

  • Most insurances are allowing tele-medicine appointments. Apex will contact your insurance provider regarding coverage prior to your appointment.
  • Please note that this is billed as a doctor’s appointment meaning any co-pay, co-insurance or deductible applies. Co-pays and balances are due at time of service.
  • Patients must be in the state of Ohio during their telehealth appointment.

What do I need to access TeleDermatology?

  • A computer, smart phone or tablet with camera and microphone access
  • WiFi /internet connection

What conditions can I be seen for?

You can be seen virtually for many general dermatology concerns including:

  • Psoriasis
  • Rashes
  • Rosacea
  • Skin infections
  • Suspicious spots and moles
  • Warts and other abnormal bumps

Pediatric dermatology can also be done virtually for similar conditions and concerns.

Can prescriptions be ordered for me?

Yes, your provider can order prescriptions for you as normal. Please note, that some pharmacies are now also offering free prescription delivery due to COVID-19.
